Book Basket Information

Each year NOSCBWI presents a book basket to a Cleveland area school.The award is based on need and improved reading and comprehension scores.

Please donate one or more new or “like-new” books to this worthy cause.

 

Directions to the
Cleveland Sheraton Airport Hotel

The Sheraton Airport Hotel is on the grounds of the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Follow signs for the airport from I-71 or I-480.

Parking for the Sheraton is accessible from the gated outdoor lot to the rear of the hotel. "Free parking" passes will be provided for conference attendees in their conference registration packets.

 

A FEW NOTES ABOUT REGISTERING
(Registration form available for download through August 29, 2008)

Considering the following points will help you complete and return your registration packet quickly (conference and critique spaces are limited).

ILLUSTRATORS: All illustrators registering for the Saturday full-day program will automatically have a space reserved in the annual Illustrator's Showcase. Portfolios will be checked "in" at registration, and "out" following the conference. Please include 10-15 samples of one or two styles, some sequential, in color and/or B&W ( 8 1/2 x 11 to 20 x 30).

You may include a bio/profile and “drop off” items such as a postcards or business cards.

NEW! SPECIAL, HALF-DAY SCHEDULE OPTION FOR ILLUSTRATORS, ONLY!

  • Cost: $55 SCBWI members, $65 non-members
    For the first time this year, illustrators are invited to attend an illustration-track, half-day session. The Saturday afternoon session includes lunch, keynote lecture by art representative, Regina Brooks, and choice of illustrator workshops.

EVERYONE WILL BE GIVEN THE OPTION TO REGISTER FOR FOUR SEPARATE CONFERENCE COMPONENTS:

  1. The Friday Night Opening Dinner, Sept. 5, 6-10PM
    Cost: $30-Advance registration is required.
    Includes: SHOP TALK SESSION with keynote and breakout speakers, dinner and address by AMY LENNEX, editor, Sleeping Bear Press. Cash bar. Casual business attire.
  2. Main Conference, Saturday, Sept. 6, 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM
    Cost: $100 SCBWI members, $120 non-members
    (Add $15 late fee if postmarked after August 18, 2007)
    Includes: Continental breakfast, lunch, headliner addresses, workshop presentations, panel discussion with headliners, autograph session, door prizes and more!

    Receipt of your registration will be acknowledged by e-mail or telephone. Registration packets, including the name of your critiquer and time of your critique, will not be mailed out in advance; you will receive your packet and critique information during registration sign-in.
  3. Manuscript Critiques & Portfolio Reviews
    Cost: $35
    Critique slots for both manuscripts and portfolios are limited and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so do return your registration promptly. Ohio SCBWI members will have priority access for critique registration until July 21st, 2008. Please rank your order of preference for critiquers (when applicable) on registration form. If your choices are unable to be accommodated, you have the option to withdraw your submission and receive a refund of the critique/review fee.     One-on-one manuscript critiques and portfolio reviews (15 minutes each) will be scheduled during the Saturday conference breakout sessions. You will receive your appointment information at registration check-in. HALF-DAY ILLUSTRATORS are not eligible for portfolio reviews.

  4. Continuing Education Units (CEU's)
    Cost: $15
    Certificates for one CE unit must be requested in advance of the conference (see registration form) and will be distributed during registration on Friday evening. Participants must attend both Friday and Saturday (10 instruction hours) to be eligible.
