NOSCBWI Info

When you join the national SCBWI organization, you automatically become a member of local or regional chapters, at no separate or additional cost. Participation in the NOHSCBWI Regional Chapter offers benefits in addition to those the national organization provides. These include a free membership to our Ohio message board; quarterly flyers about meetings and events (these are not mailed to non-SCBWI members); priority registration and reduced tuition for paying events; inclusion in the online membership directory, and the opportunity to join the NOHSCBWI Team Players Squad, a group of over 40 volunteers, dedicated to making our region the best chapter in SCBWI.

The key to gaining the most from your membership is active participation. Active participation in NOSCBWI provides unique research and marketing opportunities and terrific networking possibilities with editors, agents and other publishing professionals!

The Northern Ohio Executive Committee is a volunteer board responsible for planning meetings and events, maintaining the NOSCBWI website, providing information and updates to NOSCBWI members, and maintaining the Ohio listserv.

Executive Committee members serve for two years (renewable). All positions are voluntary and open to all NOSCBWI participants.


 

Duties and officers:

Regional Advisor (Interim) – Jean Daigneau, Kent
Accountable to National SCBWI office for all reports, including annual budget. Liaison to the national office. Applies for National grants. Oversees all regional business. Serves as treasurer. Chairs annual conference.

Assistant Regional Advisor – Jean Daigneau, Kent
Acts on behalf of RA in his/her absence. Coordinates annual calendar of events. Negotiates vendor/service contracts.

Assistant Events Coordinator--Vicki Salvaggio, Twinsburg
ARA in training. Assists ARA with event planning and preparation. Chairs event volunteer committees.

Membership Coordinator – Jane Biehl, North Canton
First contact person for new members. Assists them in navigating the educational and networking opportunities available through NOHSCBWI.

Illustrator Coordinator – Cristina Bruce-Kaiser, Shaker Heights
Liaison for the illustrator membership. Chairs illustrators' showcase at annual conference. Chairs annual illustrators' event/retreat. Provides graphic support to NOSCBWI as requested.

Assistant Illustrator Coordinator--Deborah L. Jackson, Aurora
IC in training. Assists Illustrator Coordinator with illustrator events. Moderates the online NOHSCBWI illustrator communities. Chairs IC volunteer committees.

Marketing Coordinator – Debbra Nance, Utah
Develops brochures for annual events. Distributes quarterly meeting announcements. Supervises PR activity.

Assistant Marketing Coordinator--LaVora Perry, East Cleveland
MC in training. Assists Marketing Coordinator with creation of PR media. Researches new PR markets. Chairs MC volunteer committees.

Volunteer Coordinator – Rhenee McGraw-Harris, Kent
Maintains volunteer database. Coordinates w/ event chairs to provide volunteers for events as needed.

Assistant Volunteer Coordinator--Vicki Salvaggio, Twinsburg
VC in training. Assists Volunteer Coordinator with volunteer management. Serves as archivist for all meetings/events, including minutes of executive committee meetings, plus notebook, flyers, photos of special events).
