Critique Groups: Getting Started
Welcome! If you would like to find out about establishing a critique group in your area, there are many resources here to help you get started. The NOSCBWI listserv is a great place to start! As a NOSCBWI member, you may take advantage of this message board which connects you with other writers/illustrators from Cincinnati to Toledo to Athens! If you aren’t already a member of the listserv (open to SCBWI members only), you might want to join and post a message to link up with other writers or illustrators in your area interested in a critique group. Or plan an organizational meeting and use the listserv to post details of the meeting’s time and place to attract NOSCBWI members interested in joining a group dedicated to children’s publishing. If you are considering an on-line group, you may find other writers on the listserv looking for a group. SCBWI members can also download the SCBWI publication, available to members only, on Starting a Critique Group. Go to www.scbwi.org and click on Publications, then SCBWI Publications and then the “members only” publication list. Scroll down to the article “Starting a Critique Group.” There is also a terrific article on the SCBWI publications page entitled “The Give and Take of Critique” by Newbery author Linda Sue Park. Here are some articles and resources you might want to check out to help you establish guidelines for your critique group: « Back |
